Speaker 2.0

A brief side project has become a comprehensive exploration of identifying, designing, and fabricating a speaker, paying attention to the aspects of acoustics, material characteristics, and assembly.

This transparent speaker was created with simplicity in mind—almost completely from scratch, made from MDF for warmth and acrylic for visibility.

Designed around the driver’s specs, using laser-cut panels, press-fit recessed nuts and bolts, and a 3D-printed port tube to enhance lower spectrum performance. Foam seals were added all around the edges to reduce leakage and internal resonance , all to produce a tighter, cleaner sound.

This was more than just another DIY speaker design; it is also an exploration of how industrial design, physics, and craft can come together to better understand the invisible—acoustics.
