Orgo — A Mac File Naming App

Date

October, 2026

Role

Founder & Industrial Designer (research, UX, interaction and visual design

Project type

Mac menu bar app, my first software project

Built With

Swift / SwiftUI, Apple’s on-device frameworks, AI-assisted coding

Status

In testing. Free download coming soon.

Every download arrives with a name a server chose: document (7).pdf, TTAQKRX.pdf, IMG_4821.HEIC. Downloads becomes a junk drawer, and finding anything later means opening ten files.

Orgo catches each file the moment it lands. A small card drops in with a clear name already typed: “Airtel Mobile Bill - 2026-09”, “IRCTC Train Ticket - BRC to NDLS”. Press Return to rename it, or ignore the card and the file waits quietly in an inbox.

Before the first card, a short setup shows your own downloads in four naming styles. You pick the one that looks right, and every name after that follows it.

Everything runs on the Mac. Orgo recognises 156 kinds of documents and 513 banks, brands and companies, reads dates from inside the file, and has no internet access at all.

It’s my first software project. I approached it the way I approach physical products: problem first, calm by design, and the interaction is the product.
